Common, unchaste rage against common, unchaste intelligence; common,
unchaste rage against common, unchaste rigorous thinking, intellectual
abilities, worldly wisdom, practical smarts, the well deserved gifts to
ourselves of pretensions to adulthood .... we all have to indulge our
cravings for sweets and happiness at times and in seasons.
The
joys and comforts of declining brain waves and proud guttural emotions
of disdain and aggression are the wrappings upon the presents of glory
and the icings upon the cakes of panacea.
That there is no avenues
to responsible power, no paths to actual stakes in the process of
governance leaves us our pittance of simple wants and pleasures, simple
beliefs and affronts.
It is the investment in stupid that makes
days bearable, that makes the beauty pageants of willful politicos
palatable, that makes talk of the greatness of America and American
ideals statements worth believing, that makes those statements practiced
today self defined and self inclusive, exclusive set with boundaries
cast in feeble terms with feeble thoughts and feeble effort.
Wisdom is a luxury for those who feel it it worth the trouble.
That is not us.
