It is far easier to break the backs of those we own rather than try to do so to those who own us.
The
poor and the dispossessed have no powerful constituency and therefor
can be easily vilified and labelled as cheats and pikers, welfare
abusers, scum who steal money from the public trough.
The wealthy,
the gods, the connected own constituencies and can then steal and
plunder without push back from all guardians of public morals. Might
makes right and might corrals the standard bearers of public decency.
The
poor and the dispossessed can make sublime canon fodder for those who
make the conflicts, the weapons, the games, but they are there to be
used as a resource ..... too many stop being poor and dispossessed,
start having a stake in society and good canon fodder gets harder to
find.
